I am certified as a Building Biologist Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist by the Building Biology Institute and reside in New York City. I apprenticed and worked for another Building Biologist for 4 years prior to becoming certified by the B.B.I. I came to the conclusion that the deleterious environmental and biological effects being caused by man made EMF are so profound, severe, yet largely unnoticed, that the solution requires a societal approach rather than a one by one strategy. This requires first and foremost enlightening and educating the public on these matters with accurate information. The purpose of this website is to provide clear and accurate information to the public on EMFs and is intended as a public service and not for commercial advertising.
The electric current transmitted through electric power transmission lines and home wiring produces an Alternating Current (AC) Magnetic Field that may intrude into the living space. Numerous epidemiological studies have demonstrated associations between these fields particularly at 3 milliGaus and higher, and a variety of deleterious health effects.
Pictured is a wireless communications tower in rural upstate New York. Because of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, Americans are now exposed to this harmful non ionizing radiation in a non consensual, involuntary manner, with no legal recourse.
Pictured is an example of plastic sheathed home electrical wiring also known as "Romex" cable. The normal 120 Volt 60 Hertz Power Frequency on this type of standard home wiring produces an electric field that protrudes 6 to 8 feet into a room. The electric field will electrically couple onto anything conductive such as the human body through a process known as capacitive coupling. While the 60 Hertz portion of the field will remain on the skin, higher frequencies from harmonics and voltage spikes will penetrate the skin and cause micro electrical current flow inside the body. A National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences study, named the RAPID Report, concluded in 1999, that an 18 microamp current produces carcinogenic changes in cells.
Dirty Electricity is defined by the institute of Building Biology as harmonics and high frequency transients of over 60 Hertz. Dave Stetzer of Stetzer Electric (not affiliated with the building biology institute) has designed a meter and filter system to focus on reducing high frequencies on the electric wiring, particularly above 1.7 Kilohertz. The 1.7 kHz level is based on research from the former Soviet Union,
J. Patrick Reilly, author of Applied Bioelectricity, and Dave's own experience as an electrical engineering expert. Pictured is an oscilloscope tracing of Dirty Electricity excerpted from the Book "Dirty Electricity" by Samuel Milham, MD. MPH.
